Sharon Stancliff, MD, associate medical director for harm reduction in healthcare at the DOH AIDS Institute, will provide a crucial update on the evolving substance use crises. This session will explore current epidemiology, the complexities of substances like Kratom, K2 and xylazine, alongside innovative clinical responses and harm reduction strategies.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • analyze current epidemiology of the overdose crisis;
  • describe the emerging trends in the overdose crisis, including novel substances; and
  • identify and describe evidence-based treatment approaches and harm reduction strategies.
